Humbert’s Eastbourne meltdown hands Bergs Wimbledon opener
Ugo Humbert’s grass-court tune-up implodes in three sets, setting up a blockbuster Wimbledon rematch against Zizou Bergs.

Ugo Humbert’s grass-court momentum evaporated in spectacular fashion on Saturday, as the Frenchman collapsed from a first-set lead to lose the Eastbourne International final 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to Zizou Bergs. The defeat marks Humbert’s second final loss of the season and hands Bergs his first career ATP title. The timing couldn’t be worse for Humbert, who needed a strong tune-up ahead of Wimbledon.
The collapse was total. Humbert broke early in the first set, only to see Bergs reel off six straight games to take it 6-3. The second set flipped on its head when Humbert dropped serve twice in the opening three games, handing Bergs a 4-1 lead before the Frenchman finally found his range.
