Morocco vs Netherlands: 40‑Year Return to Monterrey
After 40 years, Morocco returns to Monterrey’s Gigante de Acero to meet the Netherlands in the 2026 World Cup.

Morocco will face the Netherlands at Gigante de Acero in Monterrey during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the North African side’s first World Cup match in the city since 1986. The clash represents Morocco’s fourth appearance in the 2026 tournament and the first time the team will step onto Gigante de Acero, the stadium that now anchors Monterrey’s World Cup schedule. Four decades earlier, the city’s map was defined by two historic venues – Estadio Tecnológico and Estadio Universitario – which welcomed international squads during Mexico’s 1986 edition.
