Morocco edges Scotland 1-0, seizes control of World Cup Hockey Group C
Atlas Lions’ disciplined defense and clinical finish hand Scotland a rare setback in a pivotal 2026 World Cup qualifier that reshapes Group C’s pecking order.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions claimed a 1-0 victory over Scotland in a 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup group-stage clash, vaulting them to the top of Group C with four points. The match, played on neutral ground, saw Morocco dominate possession and create multiple chances, but it was a second-half strike from forward Aymane El Filali in the 58th minute that sealed the win. Scotland struggled to generate clear opportunities, managing just two shots on target all game, while Morocco’s defense—marshaled by captain Anas Tahar—kept the Scottish forwards at bay throughout.
