Williams-46 will take to the court: wild card at WTA 1000 in Toronto
The 46-year-old tennis legend will return to Canada's biggest tournament - and it's more than a wild card.

Venus Williams received a wild card invitation to the main draw of the upcoming WTA 1000 in Toronto. The 46-year-old American will return to the court of a top category tournament for the first time since 2019, which will take place from August 2 to 13, 2026. This will be Williams' 13th start at the Canadian Open, a tournament she has won twice (2001 and 2016).
The wild card confirms Williams' status as one of the most recognizable figures in world tennis, despite her age and career breaks. The organizers emphasized that her participation adds unique cultural and sporting value to the tournament. Williams last took to the court in Toronto in 2019, when she reached the second round, losing to then world number one Ashleigh Barty.
