NASCAR invades Naval Base Coronado for street-circuit gauntlet
Sixteen turns, 3.4 miles of tarmac stitched through military roads, and a carrier in the background: Cup teams face their toughest setup puzzle yet.

4-mile temporary street circuit carved through Naval Base Coronado this weekend, marking the series’ most unconventional venue. The layout blends civilian tarmac with military infrastructure, including sections running past the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier and under helicopter flight paths. Teams have just 50 minutes of practice before qualifying, forcing immediate decisions on suspension tuning, brake bias, and aerodynamic balance.
