World Cup 2026: Belgium-Senegal, epic comeback and passage to the next round
Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans score the 3-2 in extra time after the initial 2-0. Now the Red Devils will challenge USA or Bosnia-Herzegovina in the round of 16.

Belgium overturned an initial 2-0 deficit and won 3-2 in extra time against Senegal in the 2026 World Cup round of 16, thanks to a historic comeback by Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans. The match, played at Seattle Stadium, started badly for the Red Devils: in the 10th minute Ismaïla Sarr opened the scoring for Senegal, followed by a second goal from Sadio Mané in the 18th minute. Belgium, fresh from a complicated group stage, seemed doomed.
