Jódar comes back against Carreño and advances at Wimbledon
The 19-year-old Spaniard beat his experienced rival in five sets to face Shintaro Mochizuki in the next phase of the London tournament.

Rafa Jódar, 19, certified his explosion on the circuit by eliminating Pablo Carreño in the second round of Wimbledon. After falling 3-6 and 1-6, the young Spaniard reacted with a run of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4 to seal the final 3-6, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 and 6-4. The match started with absolute dominance by Carreño, who took advantage of his seniority and experience on grass to break Jódar's serve on two occasions during the first set, revealing a fast match in favor of the experienced player.
However, the 19-year-old adjusted his game in the second set, reducing unforced errors and increasing aggressiveness from the back of the court to dislodge the Asturian and regain confidence. The comeback was consolidated in the fourth set, where Jódar maintained his level of intensity and broke Carreño's serve in the third key game. The fifth set was an exhausting tactical duel, with both players defending their points well, but the Spaniard closed with a 6-4 that gave him a place in the third round.
