Modric: The minimum is done, now the real World Cup begins
Modric declares qualification against Ghana the minimum for Croatia, launching the challenge towards the round of 16.

Luka Modric keeps Croatia's flame alive, calling the 2‑1 win over Ghana merely the basic requirement, not the final goal. The veteran midfielder guided the team to fourth place in the group, overcoming the group stage chaos to secure a place in the round of 16. The result, achieved in the decisive match of the group, closed the qualification process with a margin of one goal.
Modric, captain and heart of the team, underlined that for a nation with Croatia's recent pedigree, progressing to the quarter-finals is "the minimum". He praised youngster Luka Sučić, highlighting his growth and growing role in the team, and issued a warning to his opponents: the real tournament begins now. "It's the minimum," Modric said into the microphone, "but now the real World Cup begins.
