Tkachuk to Florida? Senators’ rebuild accelerates
Ottawa’s top winger is the centerpiece of a blockbuster rumor that could land him in the Sunshine State—with the Panthers or Lightning leading the chase.
The Ottawa Senators are reportedly preparing to trade star winger Brady Tkachuk to a Florida-based NHL club, with both the Panthers and Lightning emerging as primary suitors. Multiple league sources confirm the talks have reached an advanced stage, positioning Tkachuk for a potential move out of Canada and into a contending lineup. The Senators, mired in a multi-year rebuild, appear ready to accelerate their franchise reset by moving their most valuable trade asset.
Tkachuk, 27, is in the final year of his contract and has been Ottawa’s most consistent offensive producer since arriving as the fourth overall pick in the 2018 draft. He leads the Senators in goals (30) and points (60) this season, ranking among the league leaders in shot volume and physical play. His contract status—no-movement clause in play but trade request possible—adds urgency to the Senators’ decision window, which opens July 1.
