Colapinto's Miami coup: Alpine hopes rekindled
Franco Colapinto surprises with seventh place in Miami. The race changes the perspective for Alpine.
Franco Colapinto caused a stir at the Miami Grand Prix. The Alpine driver qualified in eighth place and benefited from a penalty against Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc in the race. He moved up to seventh place – his best result of the season so far.
The appearance in Miami was no coincidence. Colapinto showed consistent lap times throughout the weekend and avoided the mistakes he made earlier. Alpine team boss Bruno Famin spoke of an “important step forward” and praised the team’s tire strategy.
This success could shift the balance of power within the team. Colapinto now has arguments for a stronger position in the driver duel with Esteban Ocon. Alpine is fighting for every point in the constructors' championship and Colapinto's performance brings fresh hope.
