Alonso warns: Silverstone won't be fun
The veteran fears the worst-case scenario for the new generation of cars on the classic circuit.

Fernando Alonso is expecting a bitter pill for the drivers before the 2026 British Grand Prix: Silverstone will be anything but a walk in the park under the new rules. The two-time Aston Martin F1 world champion leaves no doubt that the technical changes for 2026 will fundamentally change the characteristics of the track. Instead of the usual high-speed action, Alonso expects a shift in performance characteristics, which poses massive problems for the field.
Silverstone is considered a temple of speed, but the current design of the car package threatens to damage this reputation. The Spaniard's prediction suggests that the balance between downforce and mechanical grip will be off, resulting in an uncomfortable ride, especially in the fast corners like Copse or Maggotts/Becketts. It's not just about comfort, but about pure competitiveness.
