French rowing championships: the funny going green in Libourne
The Cercle Nautique de Libourne isolates its athletes in a boarding school to stay focused on Lac des Dagueys.

Libourne is the scene of the French Youth Rowing Championships, offering a rare opportunity for local athletes to sail on familiar waters, but the Cercle Nautique de Libourne has chosen to upset this natural advantage. For this major competition contested on Lac des Dagueys, the local club deployed a unique psychological strategy: its rowers, including hopefuls Maxime Paillé, Clémence Vidalschmidt and Zoé Gany Courcelles, do not sleep at home. Instead of enjoying family comfort, the team was sequestered in a boarding school at a city high school.
This decision aims to reproduce the conditions of traveling outdoors, thus eliminating domestic distractions that could break the concentration necessary for high performance. The objective is clear: to keep cool heads and sharp minds despite being close to home. By transforming a home competition into an away training simulation, the club hopes to protect the group from daily interference and keep the focus on the only thing that matters, sporting performance.
