Kings land Karaban in draft-night swap with Cavs
Sacramento adds a championship-caliber wing with elite shooting and defensive upside in a rights deal for the 29th pick.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected UConn forward Alex Karaban with the 29th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and immediately traded his draft rights to the Sacramento Kings, according to a report from Fox 40 Sacramento. 9% from three during his final college season and brings championship experience from UConn’s 2023 title run. The Kings, fresh off a 46-win season and a first-round playoff exit, now add a player with positional size, shooting range, and defensive activity to a core anchored by De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
