Karviná out of Europe - Tromsø gets a new opponent
MFK Karviná banned by UEFA after match-fixing, which changes the opponent for Tromsø in the qualifiers.

UEFA has excluded Czech club MFK Karviná from all European Cup qualification as a direct consequence of their involvement in match-fixing. This brutal move by Europe's highest football body not only affects the guilty party, but sends shock waves through the qualification system and changes the conditions for Norwegian Tromsø. Karviná was found guilty of breaking UEFA's strict rules by influencing the outcome of matches at national level.
As a result of the ban, UEFA has had to move the pieces to fill the gap that occurred. Viktoria Plzeň, against whom Tromsø was originally drawn in the Europa League qualifiers, now moves up in the system to take the place of a banned club. The place left by Plzeň in the meeting with Tromsø is taken over by Hradec Králové, who move up from the Conference League qualification.
