Masakuni Yamamoto reacts to Keisuke Honda's appeal to become manager: "Future manager candidate"
In response to Honda's one-year contract proposal, the JFA remains focused on the process. A balance between experience and passion is required.

In response to Keisuke Honda's declaration of his desire to become Japan national team coach, JFA national team director Masakuni Yamamoto expressed his opinion that while he evaluates Keisuke as a future coach candidate, he does not approve of his immediate appointment. Although Yamamoto praised Honda's fighting spirit, he stressed the importance of a structured and careful process in selecting the next manager, highlighting the tension between the star player's bold proposals and organizational procedures. Honda recently announced that he would be willing to take over the reins on a one-year contract, but only if Hajime Moriyasu is merely a fill-in.
