Connor Bedard is a Canadian professional ice hockey center for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Widely regarded as a generational talent, Bedard was selected first overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He set scoring records in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Regina Pats, including winning the CHL Player of the Year award. Bedard also led Canada to gold at the 2023 World Junior Championships, where he was named tournament MVP. His explosive shot, elite hockey IQ, and playmaking ability have made him the face of Chicago's rebuild.
As of the 2025-26 season, Bedard continues to anchor the Blackhawks' top line amid a franchise rebuild. Through early May 2026, Chicago holds the fourth overall pick in the upcoming draft after a challenging season. Bedard has posted strong individual numbers, leading the team in points and goals, but the Blackhawks remain near the bottom of the Central Division standings. The team's front office is evaluating roster moves to accelerate contention around their young star.
