The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) North division. Founded in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans, the team relocated to Detroit in 1934 and became the Lions. The Lions have won four NFL championships, with their last title coming in 1957. They have also appeared in the NFL playoffs 13 times, but have not won a championship since their last title. The team plays their home games at Ford Field in downtown Detroit.
