Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, became the first player in history to score in six World Cups, converting a penalty against Uzbekistan in Houston on Matchday 1 of the 2026 tournament. The Portuguese captain’s 144th international goal doubled as his ninth World Cup strike, lifting his tally across six editions from 2006 through 2026. The strike came in the 64th minute of Portugal’s 3-0 win, slotting past Uzbekistan goalkeeper Eldorbek Suyunov after João Cancelo drew the foul.
