The 40-year-old Washington Capitals legend has signed a contract extension for his 22nd NHL season, ensuring the pursuit of Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record lives on. Ovechkin is now just ten goals shy of Gretzky's combined record of 1,016 regular season and playoff goals.
