Men's doubles players are threatening legal action against ATP reform that could marginalize pairs outside the world's top 20. The announcement is expected at Wimbledon in the coming days. The reform, unveiled in June 2025, aims to restructure the points and bonuses for men's doubles.
It would limit access to major tournaments to pairs ranked in the top 20, depriving outsiders of income and visibility. According to internal sources, this measure would reduce competition opportunities by 40% for duos ranked between 21st and 100th in the world. Affected tournaments include the Masters 1000, the ATP Finals and the four Grand Slam tournaments, where current points would now be reserved for the top 20 world pairs.
