Pegula survives Sorribes' set-point collapse to set up Bouzas blockbuster
Jessica Pegula dug deep to edge Sara Sorribes Maneiro in a Wimbledon thriller, then booked a third-round date with Jessica Bouzas—another Spaniard riding the grass momentum.
Jessica Pegula needed every ounce of composure to outlast Sara Sorribes Maneiro 7-6(6), 6-1 and reach Wimbledon’s third round. Pegula saved four set points in the opening-set tiebreak before breaking Sorribes’ serve twice in the second to close the match in 79 minutes. The win sets up a high-stakes third-round clash with fellow Spaniard Jessica Bouzas, who defeated Dayana Yastremska 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in a scrappy three-setter.
