AIK wins the dispute against Zamalek - millions will be returned
AIK's stubborn fight against Zamalek pays off: CAS rules in favor of the Swedes and demands that the Egyptians pay the remaining amount. The Omar Faraj battle is settled - and AIK puts an end to future business with the club.
AIK have finally won the long-running dispute with Zamalek over midfielder Omar Faraj. CAS ruled that Zamalek must pay the remaining transfer fee of around ten million kroner to AIK. The ruling came after FIFA initially gave the go-ahead for the payment, but Zamalek dragged out the process for several years.
AIK's management expects the money to come in during the third quarter of 2026. The club has also chosen to sever all future with Zamalek, citing a lack of reliability. The decision is part of a broader strategy where AIK now focuses on safer transitions within western leagues.
