Suspicious drone shot down by Mexican military during Korean national team training, pilot flees
The day before the World Cup, a suspicious drone appeared during the Korean national team's closed practice. Mexican forces shot it down, but the two pilots recovered the plane and escaped. FIFA requested an investigation, and tactical leaks were averted.

During a closed practice session on the eve of the 2026 World Cup match against Mexico, an unidentified drone circled over the heads of the South Korean national team. Although the Mexican military shot down the plane due to radio interference, an unusual situation occurred in which two men, believed to be the pilots, recovered the crashed plane and fled. FIFA security personnel asked Mexican police to investigate the incident, and the Korean Association (KFA) also called for measures to prevent it from happening again.
